About to Finish Catching Up From the Texas Hill Country

It's a good thing to start this new journey in a place not too far from "home", meaning where our kids and family are.  We chose our first volunteer opportunity at LBJ for that reason as we knew we needed to transition, and that there would be some lose ends to tie up with Ron's retirement.  So on one of those trips back home, we were able to see Aiden all dressed up as a Jalapeño in his kindergarten play.

I'd like to think Aiden was singing at the top of his lungs, but I think that's a yawn from too much excitement.

Check out that "hot hot hot Jalapeno"!

Finally had Don and Rene' stop by for a quick afternoon visit.  Fun!

Took a drive over to Canyon Lake.  The area has really grown and changed since the last time we drove there.

I can't even tell you what this little piddly road we traveled is named, but goodness there was some beautiful scenery. We were traveling the roads between the Balcones Canyonland NWR.

Had fun hiking around here.  We drove over to see if this was a place we would like to volunteer.  The answer is yes. Really cool place. Lots of birders come here.

More scenery from Balcones Canyonland NWR.

Next in line for a visit was my BFF Peggy and her daughter Nicole.  We mostly just hung out so Peggy could enjoy the ranch and nature, but a highlight for me was driving over to Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.  And a really great treat there was to catch up with cousin Fay who volunteers there.
Peggy and Nicole. And a big thanks to Ron for helping Nicole in and out of a not so handicap friendly RV.

Pictures like this sure bring back memories of when we were roommates.  We were definitely the tall and short of it all. Mutt and Jeff.......

Nesting baby horned owls at the Wildflower Center.

Me and my cousin Fay.  I am certainly blessed by family!!!

Me, Peggy and Nicole at the Wildflower Center.

This is such a cool, kid friendly garden.  Bring the kiddos here!

Love this butterfly chair!

The cafe here is really good!
