Saguaro National Park and the Tuscon Area

May 4, Day 4 was a long drive to Saguaro National Park in Arizona, located by Tuscon. We got the RVs parked at Gilbert Ray Campground in the Tuscon Mountain Park.  It's pretty hot!  103 degrees in the shade of a cactus, but this is a pretty park. And thankfully it has electricity!

We went to the Visitor Center, got our Passports stamped and a little orientation and were on our way to do the scenic drive.  I know......we don't like to tour a national park through the windshield, but it was way too hot to attempt much hiking.  The saguaros seem to lift their arms to heaven!  They are just beginning to bloom.

The Saguaro - the mighty symbol of the old west!
They have such pretty blooms!

Beautiful sunset

We also took in a brewery in Tuscon - the Dragoon Brewing Co.  We didn't find anything better than our favorite Shiner beers. Darn the luck!

May 5, Day 5 started bright and early!  We went to tour the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum.  This is a great place if you haven't ever been, with a ticket price of $20 bucks each.  Unfortunately I think that due to the heat a lot of the animals were hiding in their caves of shade.  Here are a few pictures from there.

Can you find the bird?

Very pretty gardens

Can you find the hummingbird?
Next up.....the Grand Canyon!
