Day 4, Monday, September 29, 2014

Glacial Lakes State Park, Minnesota

One of the questions we asked around the campfire tonight was, "Did you ever think we'd camp in Minnesota?"  The answer was a definite No!

It was a lazy morning leaving Iowa. Temps in the 50's. The cloud cover sure makes the colors on the cottonwoods here pop!  Pretty!

On our drive to Minnesota we saw such beautiful farmland - makes me sing quietly songs about Thanksgiving and harvest time.  We saw geese flying in formation thinking, wondering, are they going to make it down to our home in Texas????  We landed at Glacial Lakes State Park, a small, but pretty campground surrounded by farmland.  We always thought Texas as big on farming, but now I think I might disagree.  Their corn is still a golden green.  And it goes on as far as the eye can see.  We think they were harvesting beets up here. Oh my.  Just beautiful.

The park ranger says that an hour further north the leaves are in full color. Guess we'll see!

LeMars, Iowa, better known as the "Ice Cream Capital of the World"
All the street corners in town have ice cream cones. Cute!
Lutheran Church near Monson Lake State Park, Minnesota
 Monson Lake, MN
 Do you see it?
Beautiful countryside about to burst with fall colors.
 Top of our hike today.
