Albuquerque Wedding and Fall Foliage

Oh what a fun time we had at my friend Kay's wedding!  Back in the days, I played piano and she played organ at the church in Iago.  She's a wonderful person and we think the world of Bill.  I didn't take many pictures though!  We stayed at a new casino, the Santa Ana Star Casino. Just opened in July and it was really nice!  We came out with a little more money than we started with which is good. We enjoyed the hot tub, the pool and the exercise room.  The courtesy breakfast left a little to be desired.
The night before we had a bowling party. Wayne and Ron are discussing strategies!

I got to play a part in the wedding. My friend Wayne was singing in it and I was accompanying him on the keyboard.  Bill's house here in Rio Rancho was just awesome!  Your typical adobe, southwestern style house.  Beautiful wedding!
Gorgeous and delicious wedding cake!

What a beautiful backdrop for the wedding party!

We took a jeep ride with Doyle and Karen up to the Bachelor Loop to check out the fall colors.  We enjoyed lunch at Freeman's - they have the best burgers!  Then we drove over to Deer Lake Reservoir on top of Slumgolyan Pass, looking for moose!  Only saw a baby moose.

Looking for dinner!

As our time here in South Fork draws to an end, our friends Doyle and Karen made sure we got in one more UTV adventure checking out fall foliage.  We trailered to Summitville. Then rode across road 700 - Dry Creek.  Beautiful. I had to close my eyes in a few spots.  We also discovered a small town - Jasper.
And there's the road less traveled!

The trail took us over to the top of the red mountain.

Sometimes these trails made me close my eyes.

The sheep started coming.

The shepherd and his dog.

Yep we climbed over rocks like this......

Lunch time!

Beautiful fall foliage!

Next up - Our volunteer job here at Alpine Trails RV Park has come to an end.  The park closes September 22.  Our last few days were great!  JoyceAnn and Rodney, the owners, cooked us and Roy and Brenda a wonderful meal of ribs and bbq chicken and made us feel loved and appreciated.  Will definitely miss them!  Our last night we finally made it over to Three Barrels Brewing and Pizza.  Really enjoyed the pizza (and their blonde beer).
Rita and Calvin....words don't describe how wonderful they are. Plus they made us each a walking stick!

JoyceAnn and Rodney's friends....

Our feast!

JoyceAnn looks stressed while Roy and Brenda are fixing their food.  LOL

We are heading back to Texas, but by way of Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.  We haven't traveled in some of these states so this is exciting.  The reason for Michigan is we are scheduled to take a class in the Spartan chasis which is what our motor coach is built on.

Stay tuned as we find more souvenirs from the road!

  1. Love this time of year with the leaves changing. You should get some great fall colors on your travel route through Michigan. Enjoy!
